Energy efficiency

Energy efficiency

The systematic recording of energy consumption down to the process level is an important component of our learning systems for energy management. Using the example of typical industrial consumers, you can use these learning systems to adopt, perform and evaluate energy-efficiency measures. The systems consists of industrial power meters, compressed air sensors and an evaluator/controller with an open OPC UA interface. The learning systems for energy efficiency complement ourcyber-physical learning systems.

Software package ‘Green Factory – Energy Management’

The software package ‘Green Factory – Energy Management’ extends the cyber-physical learning systemswith opportunities to actively influence energy consumption. Using the software package, the energy consumption of plant sections can be varied so that the plant can be operated flexibly in terms of energy. It also provides functions for increasing the industrial energy-efficiency of plant sections. A preconfigured dashboard is used for operation and visualisation.

Energy recovery for box storage

The set supplements the CP Factoryhigh-bay warehouse with hardware and software for analysing and optimising energy efficiency. This enables students to examine the question: How can mechanical energy be recovered and reused?

The set consists of a power meter, an energy storage system, analysis software and instructions on how to carry out the energy analysis and optimisation.

Robot efficiency

How can the movements of articulated arm robots be optimised in terms of energy and time? Students can explore this topic using the ‘Robot Efficiency’ extension set for our cyber-physical learning systems.

They systematically research and optimise relevant energy-consumption factors, such as speed, acceleration, distance and moving load.

The set consists of an energy meter, touch panel software for adjusting the robot parameters and instructions on how to carry out energy analyses and consumption optimisation.

Air supply


The learning systems from the ‘Energy supply’ series form a complete energy supply network. They can be operated individually or in combination and can, for example, independently supply energy to cyber-physical learning systems. They deal with the topics of power, heat and compressed air generation, energy storage and intelligent energy consumption.

In addition to subject-specific training content, the focus is also on general technologies such as combined heat and power generation, the use of converters, output forecasts and safety factors.

Efficiency compressor

The efficiency compressor is a learning system about modern, energy-efficient compressed air generation and supplies compressed air at a rate of up to 65 Nl/min at an overpressure of up to 7 bar. What is special about the compressor is that heat generated during compression is extracted using a water circuit via the integrated heat exchanger and made available for downstream processes.

The efficiency compressor can also be coupled with the heat reservoir for this.

Heat storage

The heat reservoir enables heat to be generated, stored, and transferred, and has further connection points for adding heat consumers or other heat sources.

It has an additional air reservoir. Together with the efficiency compressor, you can integrate the topic of energy generation into our cyber-physical systems.

Fuel cell

The fuel cell demonstrates the industrial generation of power and heat using a hydrogen-based fuel cell. It acts as a small ‘power station’ and converts hydrogen and oxygen from the air into water and energy, which are then used for downstream thermal processes.
