Through dual-channel safety circuits and continuous self-diagnostics, the system ensures reliable locking of brakes and electric cylinder guide rails, meeting Cat 3 PL d/e safety certification. This provides industrial automation equipment with brake protection solutions that comply with the highest safety standards.

Festo Solution:
The solution integrates a secondary encoder and guide rail locking device into the electric cylinder to monitor real-time position, speed, and other motion states. Upon detecting abnormalities, it immediately activates the guide rail locking device and initiates the servo motor’s Safety Brake Control (SBC) function. This optimizes safety control logic, reduces system complexity, and enables modular deployment. A full range of safety component products is supplied to provide a one-stop advanced safety solution.
Application Scenarios:
The large-volume pipetting system is suitable for handling samples ranging from 100 µL to 50 mL. It enables operators to have “zero contact” with samples, effectively reducing pre-processing workload and minimizing errors caused by manual handling. This system is ideal for large-volume sample processing in industries such as life sciences, petrochemicals, food safety testing, and environmental monitoring.

The system consists of Festo’s high-performance electric cylinder ELGD, compact linear module EGSC, high-performance servo motor EMMT-AS, DC servo motor EMMT-EC, and pipetting syringe.
The gantry system, composed of the ELGD toothed-belt electric cylinder, servo motor EMMT-AS, linear module EGSC, and DC servo motor EMMT-EC, meets the demands for high-speed and high-precision positioning in sample processing while offering excellent cost performance. The precision syringe paired with the high-resolution DC servo motor EMMT-EC enables highly accurate small-volume liquid dispensing.
Festo’s next-generation electric cylinder module ELGD features innovative dual-rail guidance technology, providing rigidity in the M× direction far exceeding that of electric cylinders of the same size. Its magnetic dust-proof belt with a steering device greatly reduces surface wear, meeting higher cleanroom standards. The innovative toothed-belt design allows the ELGD to achieve high precision positioning even at high speeds, with repeat positioning accuracy up to ±0.04 mm.
Festo not only offers the high-performance servo motor EMMT-AS and servo controller CMMT-AS (featuring multi-protocol communication interfaces, full closed-loop dual encoders, master-slave synchronization, and advanced S3 safety functions), but also provides the lightweight servo motor EMMT-ST and controller CMMT-ST. The EMMT-ST uses single-turn or multi-turn absolute encoders (battery-free) and OCP single-cable connectors. Combined with the CMMT-ST controller (supporting multi-protocol communication, safe torque off STO, and weak magnetic speed increase functions), this solution delivers even higher cost efficiency.
